Size Definition

Most plants are shown in 2 Inch pots (square), 4 Inch pots (round or square), 6 Inch pots (round),Ā and 8 Inch pots (round).

The Size option, such as 2 Inch, 4 Inch, etc., typically represents the size of the pot that the plant is shown in. InĀ most cases, it does not represent the width, length, or height of the plant, with some exceptions:

- Monkey Tail Cactus: The size represents the length of the cactus

- Some columnar cactus / cacti plants

- Certain plants that are shown without a pot

Ā

Letter Suffix in Size

When aĀ letter is added to the size value (Example: 2 Inch #A or 4 Inch #B), it represents different variants of the same size. The meaning could vary depending on the type of plant. The corresponding listing photos of each size variant provide the best representation of the plants that you'll receive.

TheĀ letter suffix could represent one or more of the following:

-Ā Differences in plant maturity and/or fullness

- Differences in plant size and/or shape

- Differences in style and/or color

- Differences in amount of variegation

- Unrooted cuttings vs. rooted plants

Ā

Packaging & Handling

Vast majority of our plants shown inĀ 4 Inch or larger pots are shipped bare rootsĀ (See below fore more details).

MostĀ plants shown inĀ 2 Inch potsĀ are shipped in theirĀ original plastic pots with soilĀ because they are small andĀ are less subject to damaging during transit.

We carefully wrap each plantĀ with wrapping paper and place them securely inside the box. Then, we fill the remaining space in the box with newsprint paper, air pillows, or crinkle paperĀ to ensure the plants don't move around during shipping, and hence minimize shipping shock.

Shipping with Pots

The plants listed below are shipped with the pot and soil to ensure thatĀ they can stay healthyĀ through transit:

  • Most plants shown in 2 Inch pot (exclusion applies, some 2 Inch plants are shipped bare root toĀ provideĀ better protection)
  • String of Pearls in 2 Inch and 4 Inch pot
  • Variegated String of Pearls
  • String of Hearts

Chinese Dunce Cap: Little Rosettes with a Surprising Bloom

Enjoy the quiet charm of Chinese Dunce Cap (Orostachys malacophylla var. iwarenge). Its soft gray-green rosettes send out little offsets on fine runners, creating a delicate, spreading cluster.

  • šŸ’š Rounded rosettes form a soft, sculptural display
  • 🌿 Little offsets on runners spread around the parent plant
  • 🌸 Cone-shaped flower spikes give it the dunce-cap nickname
  • ✨ Gray-green leaves may develop a gentle pink blush
  • šŸ”„ A changing colony continues through offsets after a rosette flowers

Plant Chinese Dunce Cap where you can watch its little runners explore. A shallow container or sheltered rock-garden pocket lets its delicate shape shine.

Care Tips

Light: Bright filtered light or partial shade; protect from hot afternoon sun.

Water: Allow the soil to dry between waterings. Keep it much drier during winter rest.

Soil: Use a gritty, very well-drained mix.

Potting: Choose drainage holes and room for the spreading offsets.

Temperature: Shelter containers from severe winter exposure; keeping roots dry is especially important in cold weather.

Humidity: Avoid excess humidity and stagnant, damp conditions.

Seasonal Care: Some foliage may die back in winter. Flowering rosettes die afterward while offsets continue growing.

Fertilizer: Feed sparingly during active growth.

    Care Instructions

Please visit ourĀ Succulent CareĀ info page for more details.

To ensure the health of succulents, it is important to plant them in porous, well-draining soil. Succulents require little watering, but don't like to sit in wet soil. To create an adequate cactus mix, simply add pumice, perlite, or grit to cactus soil to provide the proper drainage.

Allow the soil to dry to the level recommended in the Care Tips above before watering again. Always drain excess water.
